Terrain and Bike Options - What You Can Expect

South Moravia is an outstanding destination for cycling and truly offers something for everyone. From mountain biking and forest trails, to gravel tracks, well-maintained asphalt cycle paths, and quiet minor roads, the region’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths and a key reason cyclists return year after year.

While we celebrate this variety, Moravia Bike Tours routes are deliberately designed to follow established cycling paths, primarily using smooth asphalt paths and low-traffic minor roads. On occasion, routes may include short sections of hard-packed gravel, which have been personally vetted and all of which are easily rideable, even on road bikes with slimmer tyres.

Our bike rental choices reflect this approach. We currently offer Merida Crossway bikes but are in the process of adding new gravel bikes, trekking and e-bikes, as our standard rental options. Gravel bikes offer added robustness, comfort, and multiple attachment points compared to lightweight aero road bikes, making them better suited to multi-day touring. For riders who prefer a more upright position or flat handlebars, our trekking bikes provide a comfortable and practical alternative. E-bikes provide extra assistance for peace of mind on the trip.

All bikes provided will be fully set up and ready to ride on arrival.

Equipment & Essentials

Included as part of Bike Rental:

  • Each bike will include a saddle bag, frame mount and a rear pannier bag - giving you space to carry daily cargo while keeping you light and free. This is optional and can be removed if you don't need it.

  • Front & rear lights will be mounted as a standard on our bikes.

  • Bells will be included for safety to help alert others to your presence as and when you need it.

  • A small repair kit including a multi-tool, spare inner tube, and tire inflation will be added to the saddle bag.

  • Bikes will have either standard flat, SPD or SPD-SL pedals but you can bring your own if you prefer.

It is also possible to rent helmets and bike GPS devices (Magene C606).

You can check out our article on Preparing For Your Tour which includes a useful Cycling Tour Packing Checklist.

Bringing Your Own Bike

If you prefer to travel with your own bike, this will be possible on most tours. Full guidance on bike suitability, transport logistics, and setup checks will be provided once routes and daily distances are confirmed.

Why This Matters

Bikes are central to the experience. Getting this right matters more than announcing a partner too early.

By taking a measured approach now, we ensure that when bookings open, the bikes and equipment offered fully support the relaxed, rewarding riding experience we’re aiming to deliver across South Moravia.

More detailed information—including exact bike models, e-bike specifications, and optional extras—will be published as sourcing is finalised.
