Getting to Brno

Brno is easy to reach from across Europe and beyond, whether you’re arriving by plane, train, bus, or car. As the gateway to South Moravia, it’s well connected yet far less hectic than larger capital cities—making it an ideal starting point for a cycling tour.

Below is a clear overview of the most common and reliable ways to get here.

Arriving by Plane

Flying directly to Brno

Brno–Tuřany Airport offers a small number of direct flights, mainly from selected European hubs and seasonal destinations. While limited, it can be convenient if a direct connection aligns with your travel plans.

Flying to nearby international airports

Many travellers choose to fly into a larger airport nearby and continue onward to Brno by train, bus, or car:

  • Vienna International Airport – The most popular option. Brno is around 1.5 hours away by direct bus or train.

  • Bratislava Airport – Around 1.5–2 hours to Brno, usually via Vienna or direct bus connections.

  • Václav Havel Airport Prague – Roughly 2.5–3 hours by train or bus.

All three airports offer frequent onward connections, clear signage, and reliable public transport options.

Arriving by Train or Bus

Brno is one of Central Europe’s key transport hubs, with excellent rail and coach connections.

By train

International and long-distance trains arrive at Brno hlavní nádraží, located right in the city centre.

Direct or easy one-change connections are available from:

  • Vienna (≈1.5 hrs)

  • Bratislava (≈1.5 hrs)

  • Prague (≈2.5 hrs)

  • Budapest (≈4 hrs)

  • Munich (≈4.5–5 hrs)

  • Berlin (≈6.5 hrs)

Trains are comfortable, frequent, and a relaxed way to travel with luggage.

By bus

Long-distance coaches are often the most affordable option and serve a wide range of European cities. Buses typically arrive at Zvonařka Bus Station, a short walk or tram ride from the centre.

Popular routes include Vienna, Prague, Bratislava, Budapest, Munich, and many other cities across Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, and beyond.

Arriving by Car

Driving to Brno is straightforward, with modern motorways linking the city to Austria, Slovakia, and the rest of Czechia.

For visitors arriving by car, we recommend using the city’s Park & Ride system rather than driving into the centre.

Park & Ride: Ústřední hřbitov

The P+R Ústřední hřbitov facility is located just off the main routes into the city and is well signposted.

  • Secure, monitored parking

  • Excellent tram connections to the city centre

  • Low daily cost (typically around 50 CZK per day; subject to change)

  • Ideal if you’re staying centrally or meeting us without needing a car during your stay

From here, you can reach the centre in around 10–15 minutes by public transport.

Once You've Arrived

Brno’s centre is compact and easy to navigate on foot or by tram. If you’re joining one of our tours, we’ll confirm clear meeting instructions in advance and are always happy to help with arrival planning if needed.
